Why use Perl?
Despite being considered an ‘old’ programming language, Perl is still very much alive and in use, both for existing systems and new ones. Perl is very much a stable language, with a long track record of performance, security and reliability, and enjoys a vast library of modules and extensions (via CPAN for practically anything you can think of.
Why use the Catalyst framework?
We haved used the Catalyst framework for Perl-based web applications in the past, and have been extremely impressed at the speed that applications can be developed and the performance of these applications. The Catalyst framework offers several deployment methods, making it versatile enough to support a wide range of hosting platforms, and because it’s written in Perl, it can leverage all of the libraries and extensions available to Perl to futher speed application development
